Hi folks and welcome to this video where I take a look at the first of two types of Turboprop engines.
The video has a discussion over how the darned things work and then the flight demonstration starts at 27:50. It also discusses one of the reasons why the JS41 can catch fire and the start locks/latches. Please note the JS 41 in FSX is quite a noisy aircraft, so I struggled to get the sound balance right, and my voice is a little quiet on occasions. Sorry.
Although aimed primarily at the flight simulator community, I hope that in part it also bridges the gap between simulation and reality. This is neither a type rating, formal training nor is it specific to one particular aircraft (although I do use the JS41 as a demonstrator). The video is talking about the basic principles in how the engines and propeller systems work.
Given the generic nature of the tutorial, I have not followed the check lists, I have just focussed on the key bits of engine handling, and so yes I will no doubt have missed out flicking some switches - but don't we all miss flicking things !!
As with anything, there are variations between aircraft of all different types so please feel free to add pointers which may be useful to others in the community and they don't need to be specific to the Jetstream.
Lastly, if you enjoy the video, please feel free to like, share or subscribe.
