I chose to join the protesters as an impartial photographer at Shire Hall, Castle Hill, Cambridge, for the feeder march to the main protest at Parker's Piece.
Thank you to the police who were helpful in answering questions right from the moment I arrived as a novice at a demonstration March.
Thank you to the union officials who accepted my attendance with good will and humour.
And a special thank you to the people who took part in the march who chatted to me about why they were there.
Despite the underlying uncertainties about the future and anger at changes affecting participants personally, this was a good natured march and demonstration.
