On January 6, 2010, Umar Abdullah-Johnson posted the following message on his Facebook page “Promises, in 2010, to begin laying the groundwork for “The Frederick Douglass & Marcus Garvey Pan-African School For Black Boys” Specializing in Learning Disabilities & Disruptive Behavior Disorders. This will be a private school and YES you will pay in order for your son to attend. Grand Opening: 9-1-1, 2013. This is chess not checkers!”

While this post was made in 2010 the FDMG Grand Opening date was set for September of 2013. So, what happened between 2010 and 2013? Did Umar lay the groundwork for “The Frederick Douglass & Marcus Garvey Pan-African School For Black Boys”? On March 3rd, 2010, Umar Abdullah-Johnson posted on Facebook page that he “is looking for young Black males (high school 14-17 yrs) to work in the FDMG aftercare and summer camp for Black boys this spring/summer. I am also looking for Black males interested in teaching at the FDMG school for Black boys - must have a bachelor's degree, squeaky clean child abuse clearance w/ no felonies on the state/FBI criminal clearance. Email resume & clearances to umarabdullahjohnson@yahoo.com. NO SISTAS!”

So what happened to the FDMG aftercare and summer camp for Black boys that was supposed to take place spring/summer of 2010? These events never occurred. In fact, not much was said about FDMG in 2010. However, in 2011, several videos show Umar Johnson speaking about the idea of FDMG.

It is interesting that Umar Johnson was promoting the idea of an FDMG school district back in 2012. A school district would imply several schools that would exist throughout the country. This is a lofty goal for someone who had no experience in opening a school and no money to start the process of building a Pan African school district. Remember that in 2010 Umar Johnson stated that the FDMG grand opening would be September 11th, 2013. And yet, in December of 2012 Umar Johnson speaks about opening a Pan African School district and makes no mention of the September 11th, 2013, Grand Opening. In July 2013, Umar Johnson gave the following FDMG update.

It is important to note that Umar Johnson stated that he was going on a national fundraising tour and that he was getting his paperwork in order so that he could set up a website to collect donations. If Umar Johnson was laying the groundwork for the Frederick Douglass Marcus Garvey Academy back in January of 2010, then shouldn’t he have had his paperwork in order and a functional fdmg.com website by September of 2013? Wouldn’t three and a half years be more than enough time to complete these basic tasks? Umar Johnson’s inability to handle basic business proves that Umar Johnson never had a clear plan, motivation to complete basic tasks, or a desire to open a fully functional accredited school.

The 500-acre compound included a security booth, a campus security center, a welcome center, 7 massive dormitory buildings including visitor rooms, an elementary school, a middle school, a marine science building, a science & technology building, a hospital, a health center, an engineering and architecture building, a zoo, farm land area, agriculture building, animal study building, farming equipment building, special arts building, a store, a culinary arts building, a business center and union building, a track and field facility, a baseball stadium, a political government building, an aviation and NASA building, a military building, an air traffic control tower, two aircraft bays, an airport runway, a man-made river shaped like Africa surrounding the 500 acre campus compound, and much more. This is easily a billion-dollar project, and it is incredible that Umar Johnson conceptualized such a grandiose project without any money to start the process of building such a massive compound.

Over the last 14 years Umar Johnson has changed the FDMG Grand Opening date at least 25 times. The question is why? Why would Umar Johnson change the grand opening date so many times? The answer to this question is both simple and diabolical. Understand that Umar Johnson has no intention of opening a fully function accredited school. His intention is to keep deceiving his supporters while collecting donations indefinitely.
