Goot POT-22C Solder Pot A simple small solder pot is all you need to tin wires and leads of various electronic components. Let's look at this instrument up close using the example of POT-22C offered by the Japanese brand Goot. The key feature of this device is the pot itself, which is made of heat-resistant stainless steel with ceramic coating. This material has been specially designed for application of lead and non-lead solders, as it does not affect their chemical composition. The long service life of the pot is enabled by a part-load operation mode facilitated by the careful circuit engineering and the new 130-watt nichrome heating element. Besides the solder pot is extremely easy to operate. The device is powered off of 220 V mains. After the on/off button is pressed the pot heats up to the preset temperature adjustable with the help of a special handle from 270 to 520 degrees Celsius. When the pot is ready the respective LED indicator lights up. The LED indicator and the on/off button are protected against accidental spill of melted solder with a heat-resistant silicone plate. Now, let's put the solder into the pot and set the temperature to a maximum to decrease the time required for the solder to melt - approximately 8-10 minutes. The pot of the device is 36 mm in diameter and 300 g in volume, which is more than enough to tin the wires of especially large electronic components, while the high operating temperature enables servicing enameled copper wires. Application of solder pots helps to significantly speed up the soldering operations. Besides, if you use a high-quality tool, like POT-22C, the reliability and durability of the device, just as the results of its operation will never bring about any doubts.
