The Enforcement Directorate on Friday said that its officials, who were in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas to conduct raids on a Trinamool Congress leader, were attacked by a mob of nearly a thousand people who marched at them "with an intention to cause death".
The ED officials were attacked by a mob, purportedly the supporters of Trinamool Congress leader Shahjahan Sheikh, when they were on the way to his residence in North 24 Parganas district's Sandeshkhali area. The ED sleuths were going to conduct raids on the TMC leader's home in connection with the ration distribution scam.
