Virgin withdrew their fleet of Boeing 747-400s, including G-VROM; "Barbarella" earlier this year following the impact on air travel caused by the Coronavirus.
Barbarella took her last commercial flight on 23rd March 2020.
The aircraft flew from Manchester where it had been in storage, to Heathrow on 18th August (see the film of the landing on my channel) for engine changes .....and today, after a couple of false starts, we see Barbarella making her final taxi, line up and departure from #Heathrow on flight VS 840 Papa, to Las Vegas.
The aircraft DOES have a future though - with Atlas Air - as a troop carrier. But we won't see her in the stylish Virgin livery any longer.
As the Virgin 747s were such a rare sight at Heathrow, I've filmed the taxi virtually all the way from Terminal 3 up to the departure point at the start of Runway 27 Right. Don't skip forward - enjoy every second of this historic moment........
