Hi, my name is Jodi and I'm a reading teacher. I've been teaching kids to read for over 15 years. Some kids get it right away. And some kids don't. I found the most effective way to help everyone was to turn the letters into characters that helped to make sense out of all confusing phonics rules. Trying to remember that some letters go together (think sh / th / ar) is such a hurdle for kids (especially those with reading disabilities such as dyslexia). With my stories, phonics is no longer about remembering rules and what letter goes with what and when...it becomes looking for known characters who have a reason to say what they say and act how they act. For kids looking for a way to think outside the box about reading, this is it! So join me in my journey to tell the story of a bossy pirate named R who has trouble making friends and always seems to bully his friend A. Along the way you'll fall in love with the journey of making a friend and by accident want to scream out RRRRRRRRRRRRR anytime you see the letters A and R together.
