The lake only remains accessible for around four to five months from June to September or October. In other months, it remains covered under snow and the extreme weather becomes a barrier for the people except for the real daring ones. July and August are the best months to visit this lake when the meadows are lush green.
The lake's water is greenish-blue hue and very cold, at an elevation of 3,800 meters (12,500 ft). The surrounding mountains, with snow patches in the shady dales, average around 4,800 meters (15,700 ft) in elevation.

We started our journey from Islamabad in our own car. Its costs you the fuel & tool tax to reach Basel (Moon Restaurant).
Day 1: We stayed at Moon Restaurant. It was extremely beautiful. The tents were clean and the food was delicious.
Day 2: We left Basel & Started our tracking towards Lake. After 4 to 5 hours we reach our first destination which was "Mulla Ki Basti"
Time from Basel to Mulla Ki Basti: 5 hours (Depending upon experience & Stamina Level)
We take some rest at Mullah ki Basti & on the same day we left for Lake. It takes almost 2 hours to reach the beautiful Dudipatsar Lake. The weather was extremely cold & we stayed a maximum of 1 hour at the lake.
Then we get back to Mullah ki Basti & we stayed there for a night.
Day 3: The very first morning we left Mullah ki Basti and start our tracking towards Basel & Islamabad.
