The holy grail for railway photographers is sun, snow and steam and that would be the backdrop for LNER A2 class Blue Peter as it hauled its first public paying steam excursion. Saphos Trains Christmas White Rose would head to York via the Hope Valley line which takes you through the north Peak District through Chiney and Edale. While the conditions were superb there was a nagging north westerly wind which would cause an issue with where the steam would blow. We opted for a high up shot above Cowburn Tunnel where a snow capped Peak District could be seen in all its glory. Scenes like these come around once in a blue moon and we felt very lucky to witness such an occasion. The first shot is from an unmanned camera at Chinley East Junction. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the views.
