A devastating fire in Kuwait's Mangaf area claimed the lives of 49 people, including 45 Indians. The victims, mostly migrant workers employed by NBTC, lived in a building that caught fire. Kerala Revenue Minister K. Rajan arrived at Cochin International Airport to receive the special IAF aircraft carrying the victims' mortal remains. MoS KVSinghMPGonda, who coordinated swift repatriation, is onboard the flight.
Kerala Health Minister Veena George reported that 30 people from Kerala are undergoing treatment, with 7 in the ICU. Kuwaiti authorities have identified 48 bodies, including 45 Indians and three Filipinos. Efforts continue to identify the remaining body.
MoS KVSinghMPGonda also visited an injured Indian at Farwaniya Hospital and met with Kuwait's Health Minister, who assured that exceptional medical care is being provided. Kuwait's Foreign Minister Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya has pledged full support and a prompt investigation into the tragedy.
