Tyson Fury Reacts to Usyk Loss: "Judges Gave Him a Christmas Gift"
Hello viewers, welcome back to SSN24!
Tyson Fury has refused to accept his defeat in the highly anticipated rematch against Oleksandr Usyk, claiming the judges gifted the Ukrainian champion an early "Christmas gift." The bout in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, concluded with all three judges scoring 116-112 in Usyk's favor, marking his second consecutive victory over Fury.
In his post-fight statements, Fury expressed disbelief, stating, "I feel like I won both fights. I know I had to knock him out, but this is boxing. There’s no doubt in my mind I won this fight." Fury’s promoter, Frank Warren, echoed his sentiments, arguing Fury's performance showcased superb jabbing, evasive footwork, and dominance.
The judges—Patrick Morley (USA), Ignacio Robles (Panama), and Gerardo Martinez (Puerto Rico)—were unanimous in scoring several rounds for Usyk but were split on others. Despite Fury's strong showing in rounds four and five, Usyk’s precision and consistency secured his unanimous victory in critical rounds, including six through eight.
For Usyk, this win extended his undefeated record to 23 victories and solidified his status as one of the greatest of this generation. In response to Fury's claims, Usyk said, "If Tyson says it is a Christmas gift, then OK. Thank you, God, not Tyson. Thank you to my team."
Fury, visibly frustrated, added, "I’ll always feel hard done by—not a little bit, a lot."
