The leader of Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood, Mohammed Badie, has appeared before Islamist supporters at a so-called 'Friday of Rage' rally in Cairo which was called to protest the overthrow of President Mohamed Mursi, a member of the movement. Badie asked Brotherhood supporters to continue protesting until deposed president Mohammed Morsi is returned to office. Badie also called for protesters to avoid using violence, a request that was promptly ignored night fell and pro- and anti-Morsi demonstrators clashed throughout Cairo and Alexandria, Egypt's second largest costal city.
