In this video, we take on the peak with a pretty standard Axton build with no Grog, Bee-hawk, Sham, Norfleet, Harold, etc. Axton is one of my favorite characters and he really excels in the peak. The turret soaks up so much aggro for you while also providing a significant DPS boost. The turret(s) is absolutely perfect for the peak environment, having some sort of aggro control is absolutely amazing. Furthermore, Axton's exceptional utilization of grenades helps him deal with some of the more difficult mini bosses within the peak in no time. This build translates perfectly well to the vanilla game and should help you clear the peak pretty easily if you follow the general strategy demonstrated in this video. Overall, Axton is an excellent character for tackling the peak and is often underrated for his ability to do so. You should definitely give him a solid chance!
