This travel video, tells about Socotra island in Yemen.
Socotra, is located in the Arabian Sea just below Yemen , has roughly over 42,000 inhabitants in an area of 3,800 square kilometers.
This means the island is “barely inhabited!” ,There are only small villages here and there.
This channel Idillic journey has choosen this island because is well known for its surreal landscapes , full of towering sand dunes and deep canyons making it one of the most beautiful UNESCO sites in the world.
Socotra has gained notoriety for being almost impossible to visit, but that’s not true and the access to Socotra is very limited at the moment
The geology of Socotra consists in ancient precambrian metamorphic rocks that are intruded by younger igneous rocks, overlain by limestones and other marine sediments that deposited during marine periods in the Cretaceous and the Cenozoic.
Ancient texts say that Socotra is the Garden of Eden , and from this channel Idyllic Journey , also think the same thing
The island is well known for its Dragon Blood Trees making it one of the most beautiful UNESCO sites in the world.
Socotra is globally important for biodiversity conservation because of its exceptionally rich and distinct flora and fauna. 37% of Socotra's plant species, 90% of its reptile species and 95% of its land snail species do not occur anywhere else in the world.
The island has a total population of around 70,000 people, and they speak their own Socotri language.
