2025 Nitro Optisym Snowboard Review
The Original Friendly Freestyle Snowboard
The Optisym is for all those snowboarders who enjoy fun, low-impact, buttery, friendly freestyle snowboarding, which means turning everything into a feature, even a groomed run or the knuckles of park landings, capable of switching from airtime tricks to flat ground tricks within seconds. This snowboarding style is probably the most relatable and achievable, so we decided to make a board specifically for this type of riding - for the dreamers – the friendly freestyle shredders!
As one of many Nitro inventions, the Asym Twin shape is based on the knowledge that your knees don’t bend the same way in both directions and therefore, you cannot easily angle the board the same way in your toe- or heelside turns. A deeper heel sidecut radius compensates this, providing an even turning feel an more control when setting up for those relevant knuckle tricks.
Our Cam-Out Camber is basically a Trüe Camber with early and smooth transitions into tip and tail. The result is a fun and responsive board that turns on the spot and is forgiving, even after that 713.5° landing!
Mid-Wide boards provide that little extra in width for less toe and heel drag, additional flotation and that extra bit of confidence when leaning into these power carves on icy slopes.
Our Urban Flex pattern makes for ultra-flexible boards that can be tweaked any way you like, from rails to butter tricks, and they won’t wash out on you.
The Dual Degressive Sidecut blends a smaller radius in the center with two larger ones in the tip and tail, making it loose and playful. Nitro´s most forgiving sidecut.
The Powercore II is a tip-to-tail poplar wood core with additional beech wood stringers for unrivalled strength, smooth response, and insane pop.
Our Whiplash Core Profile features reduced thickness between the inserts with added meat outside your feet for maximum ollie power, while maintaining a perfect press flex.
Just like Skate wheels and bushings, our Ureshred sidewalls are made from Polyurethane, which makes them highly resistant against impact and abrasion as well as giving them excellent dampening characteristics.
The Powerwall is constructed from our Ureshred Polyurethane sidewall material and integrated into the core for extra strength on the heel side edge. It provides extra durability and dampening while improving the agility to get on and off your heel side edge and will give more support for flatland tricks, for carving and knuckle hucks.
Our rider-trusted Bi-Lite Laminates are engineered for unrivalled strength, powerful style and refined board-feel.
Your secret weapon for rails, rocks and longevity! With its unique edge profile and an impact resistance of more than 200% compared to a standard edge – the Railkiller Edge is twice as thick and twice as strong. This proprietary construction can take on any rail challenge. Take a file to them or ride them hard and wear them down naturally, this chunk of steel has enough meat for years of abuse.
Durability, speed and low maintenance all in one ultra-clear base material - our FH Base takes the abuse of any riding style – from the big mountain to the streets like no other.
