Background: Hawker Aircraft Ltd took over the Ham site from Leyland Motors in 1948, when Leyland decide to concentrate their production in the Midlands and North. Interestingly, the original Sopwith Company (forerunners of Hawkers) had also leased this same building between 1918 and 1920. It was finally closed in 1992 and demolished in 1993.
Brooklands Museum was offered some items from there and I attended with some other Brooklands Recovery Engineering And Salvage Team ( [ Ссылка ] ) members to collect them up. This short video shows you a little of the old building.
