An IEP meeting is a prime time for parent advocacy! However, an IEP can also be one of the most confusing meetings you will EVER attend!
I remember my first IEP meeting for our son...
Thinking I was prepared (since I'd been in the education world for a few years)... I was confident.
That is until I sat down and began going through the actual document with the rest of the IEP team...
Let's just say I was drowning in a sea of special education acronyms and phrases... it felt like I was truly in a different country and unable to communicate with the locals...
Luckily for my son, my wife was in the room (she speaks this foreign language fluently)...
I vowed right then and there to ensure no other parent will need to feel the way I did at that moment...
In this video, we talk about a crucial topic faced by all children with special needs, an IEP or Individualized Education Plan.
Specifically, we focus on 3 different parts of this important meeting.
1. Planning For An IEP Meeting
2. Participating In An IEP Meeting
3. Steps To Take After An IEP Meeting
By the time you’re done watching this video… you will understand the basics that go into the actual meeting itself.
It’s our goal to help ensure you are prepared and ready to fight for what’s best for your child!
After all, you are their number one advocate!
