Wayne Gretzky set the NHL goal record at 894 and despite scoring just 5 in 24 games to start last season, Alex Ovechkin has been on an absolute tear to start this season as he chases down that 894 mark. Coming into last nights matchup of the Washington Capitals vs the Vegas Golden Knights, he continued his dominance with a hat trick to bring him to 13 goals in just 17 games. It is looking much more like WHEN will he break the record, not IF he breaks it as he is on pace to score over 60 goals this season.
