"Maybe after three years of the pandemic, it has to be said that Europe, that Germany has had very good experience in doing vaccinations, mRNA vaccinations. The Chancellor (Olaf Scholz) made this clear to his interlocutors during his recent visit to China a little more than three weeks ago."

STORYLINE:
The German government said Monday it has taken note of protests against China's virus restrictions in several large Chinese cities with some reports of a violent approach by security forces against protesters.
Government spokesman Steffen Hebestreit said Germany "of course continues to watch the developments very closely" but declined to comment on whether the protests showed that democracies have coped better with the COVID-19 outbreak.
The pandemic had been "very difficult" for all countries, he said, adding that Germany was now in the "clean-up" stage but "others are not that far yet."
Hebestreit said Germany had good experiences with the mRNA vaccines, which are not yet widely approved for use in China.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz mentioned this during his recent official visit to Beijing, he noted.
