How white can a white be? You may be surprised to find out that sometimes white is not as white as it may appear to be depending on the surface it’s applied onto.
In this video I will share with you my experiments trying various white colored and watersoluble pencils (in dry form) on different types of black paper.
What you may get out of this video is:
~ Tips on comparing multiple varieties of white pencils on different types of black paper which you may add to your own art supplies collection.
~ If you’re interested in creating a monochromatic value study and you are looking just for the right effect.
As I’m testing each white pencil there few things I watch for in its performance:
~ Is it soft or is it too scratchy?
~ Is it opaque or is it translucent?
~ How is the overall coverage?
~ Is it lightfast or not?
~ How versatile is it? Can it be used in both dry and wet forms?
~ How often will I use it?
So considering all the important qualities mentioned above I keep my own rating of each pencil based on my own experiment. Some pencils really surprised me and some I already expected how they may behave. I have some of my personal favorites which I talk about in the video and you can find all the information there.
