The IEC 62443 series of standards provides power grid operators with a robust framework to manage and mitigate security vulnerabilities in industrial control systems. Implementing IEC 62443 is now everyone’s responsibility and must be fully understood and embraced by power grid operators, technology suppliers and system integrators alike, to realise its full benefits. In this interview, Gabriel Faifman, Co-Convener of TC65 WG10 discusses how power grid operators can optimise their implementation of IEC 62443 to deliver a holistic IT/OT integrated cybersecurity strategy against the backdrop of a more malicious threat landscape and more complex threat vectors.
