00:09 - Importing the cad file:
Lets start modellilng our house. First let's import the layout cadfile that we did previously. We can choose the default settings.
00:42 - Modelling the outer walls:
WE forgot to remove the line in the cad file. This line is our reference line for scaling. So lets remove it.
WE also want to make sure that the cad drawings are flat on the ground, on the 0,0 plane. And also it is near the 0,0,0 coordinate
To trace easier, we will use the top view by pressing 'T'
Let's also turn on the snapping for vertices/vertex so that we can trace the walls easily
Use the line tools to start tracing both outer walls.
Attach both lines to form 1 single mesh
Use the extrude modifier to extrude the walls by 5700 mm
04:01 - Modelling the inner walls.
To model the inner walls, we want to hide the outer walls, if not sometimes the snapping can be snapped into the wall instead of unto the cad file. Then you get a weird line, instead of one that is flat on the ground.
Hide the outer wall
Use the line tool to trace the inner walls again.
Extrude the inner walls to 2700mm. This will become the toilet walls.
05:40 - Using connect and bridge to combine the space above the doors.
Now we want to close up the gap between the outer walls and live a gap for the door.
A typical dimension of the door is usually about 2050mm by 900mm.
As based on our cad drawing we already know the space of the gap is 900mm.
So all we need to do is to make sure that we leave a space of 2050mm for the door.
And close up the gap in the outer walls above this space
Draw a box that resembles a door, 2050mm by 900mm by 10mm
place it at the space, so we will know at which point to close the gap.
Change line 1 to become editable mesh, and change the view to be wireframe.
Highlight the lines and click connect
Do the same for the other wall.
Highlight the space and click bridge.
For the inner walls, we will use connect to get the face. But instead of bridging, we will simply extrude out this face.
