Maruti Alto K10 VS Maruti Alto 800 | Comparison Review

Alto is amongst the few cars which manages to sell 20 thousand units in a single month. It has good looks, huge service backup, cheap spares and good fuel economy.

Exteriors:
The Alto K10 is based on the new platform which is developed by Maruti for Alto 800. Similarities are evident when you view from side. K10 looks aggressive amongst the two, it has sporty headlamps, large air dam and sharp cuts which flow into the tailgate, whereas Alto 800 has more sedate looks as compared to K10. The smoke shaped headlamps, slender grille and large tail lamps are the highlights in 800. K10 has 13-inch wheels whereas Alto 800 has 12-inch wheels. The built quality is all that great but might feel flimsy to some.

Interiors:
The space inside the cabin is exactly the same in both the cars. The dashboard of both the cars differ, Alto 800 gets two color choices i.e gray and brown whereas K10 comes with all black interiors. The instrument cluster is basic in Alto 800 while the K10 gets a rev counter as well. The storage spaces in both the cars are limited. Space is adequate for four persons. K10 comes with integrated music system with USB and AUX inputs while the Alto 800 gets a slot for music system to fit.

Engine and performance:
The Alto 800 comes with same older 800cc engine, K10 however, has 1-Litre engine that comes from Wagon R. Both 800cc and 1-Litre engines are at ease inside the city limits. Moreover, the steering is light this means Alto is a perfect hatch to pick. The same engine also performs good on highway. The tyres on both the cars are skinny and not grippy. ABS is not available in both the cars while Alto 800 comes with driver side airbags in LXi and VXi trims and in VXi variant in K10.

Verdict:
With the prices of Alto 800 and the K10 overlapping, the car looks roughly the same and the space is exactly the same in both. Alto K10 has better dashboard, optional AMT and more powerful engine and more features than the Alto 800.
