There are a lot of videos out there on using the Lofted Bend feature to create square-to-round transitions for sheet metal, but there are many times that you need to complete the transition halfway down the panel.
In this SOLIDWORKS tutorial, we start with a solid block to represent the material volume that the hopper needs to hold. Then, we'll use this as a tool for creating our sheet metal panel.
This hopper will have 4 identical panels, so we'll just concentrate on creating a single part. Three main sketches are needed for this part, and the middle sketch is a little tricky, so I'll go into detail on the correct placement and some of the geometry needed to create a suitable Lofted Bend. Next, we need to extend the panel up to the end of the transition and finish it out with an edge flange. I tried modeling this piece a couple different ways and have found this process to be the best practice, hope you enjoy!!
