Various shots of the funeral of Chancellor Leopold Figl. Thousands of Austrians morned him in the ancient Cathedral of St. Stephens. Shots of the State Funeral procession through the centre of Vienna. The procession was headed by the Federal Army, followed by the government, the orders of chivalry, the Senate of the Academy and members of the priesthood. Behind the coffin came Figl's widow and family, his close colleagues and friends. The government group was led by present Chancellor JOSEF KLAUS, followed by members of the diplomatic corps and representatives of the provincial administrations. The procession halted for remembrance at the offices where Figl had worked - at the Lower Austria Office, whose governor he had been since 1961, and the Chancellery. The funeral reached a climax in a ceremony held in drizzling rain on the Heldenplatz at the historic Hofburg. Dr. Klaus made a commemorative oration in which he spoke of the tragedy that Figl could not take part in the celebrations for the treaty which he had so much to bring about. To the strains of the Austrian National Anthem, the coffin was slowly carried off, to the Vienna Central Cemetery.
