This video shows an in-development pin mode that will be available in the 2.1 Version of the Serial Wombat 18AB firmware. It can drive a VGA display in 7 colors at 160x120 resolution, and inherits from the Adafruit GFX interface, so it uses all the same function calls that TFT and OLED displays use.
It also shows work I'm doing to be able to prototype my Arduino sketches and library in Visual C++, running on the PC.
