To bypass the Bose Amp in a 2003 Chevy Tahoe in 15 minutes,
Remove the black plastic center console insert with door attached. (Phillips head screws. use a small screwdriver to force the console liner forward so it will move free of the back console panel with the cig lighter etc.)
Remove the back console panel if you want more room to work, strip wires, etc. (4 phillips head screws on back, reveled by opening cup holder, 2 screws on top, revealed after console insert removal.
Locate amp. Silver unit, under console with two plugs going into it.
Unplug large wire harness. Smaller plug is for factory subs. We will not be using it.
On large harness, find and cut the signal input wires and speaker wire pairs for splicing;
left signal tan+, dark green -
left front tan +, gray -
left rear brown +, yellow -
right signal light green +, orange/ black -
right front light green +, green -
right rear blue +, light blue -
Solder or wire nut the left positive and negative wires (three wires attached together, 1 input, 2 output)
Solder or wire nut the right positive and negative wires (three wires attached together, 1 input, 2 output)
Reassemble console and console liner.
You have just bypassed the factory Bose amp to allow installation of an aftermarket head unit and amp.
