These two ruined former religious sites are very close to each other in the beautiful county of Shropshire (in the Midlands of England) and administered by English Heritage. Buildwas Abbey was a Cistercian Abbey and is in a wooded setting close to the River Severn. It is noted for its 12th Century Church with a tiled floored chapter house. Situated near to the village of Much Wenlock, Wenlock Priory was and Anglo-Saxon Monastery dating originally from 680 but which was re-founded by the Normans as a Priory for Cluniac monks. The ruins of the elaborately decorated church date from the 13th Century. (The music for this video is 'O Potores Exquisiti' sung by The Hilliard Ensemble).
