This year marks the 70th anniversary of the ANZUS Treaty - an agreement between Australia, New Zealand, and the United States to declare publicly and formally our sense of unity and desire to strengthen the fabric of peace in the Pacific Area.
The treaty was signed in San Francisco on September 1st, 1951 and stands as a testament to the strength of our alliance with Australia.
Over the last seven decades we have stood together through shared values and shared sacrifice, building stable economies through bilateral trade and investment, expanding educational and research opportunities, developing new technologies for environmental protection, and collaborating on space exploration.
Our partnership is as essential now as it was 70 years ago, for the security and prosperity of our countries, the Indo-Pacific, and the world.
