A pineapple sponge is a light, fluffy cake that incorporates pineapple, either as a flavor or as a topping. It's often characterized by its moist texture and sweet, tropical taste. Here’s a simple recipe for making a pineapple sponge cake:
### Ingredients:
- For the cake:
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup melted butter
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
- 1/2 cup pineapple crush
### Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan .
2. Cream together the sugar and butter in a large bowl until light and fluffy.
3. In a separate bowl, mix the all-purpose flour, cake flour (if using), baking powder and baking soda.
4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the pineapple crush. Begin and end with the dry ingredients.
5. Fold in the crushed pineapple until evenly distributed throughout the batter.
6. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
