Look for stopping points between the winter depths into the early Spring prespawn staging areas. Look for ditches, humps, bars, depressions, stumps & creek channels. Look for the bends and humps for groups of fish. Look for clean places that have hard bottoms, but are not deep, even if they're in the middle of the lake.
Do you love lipless crankbaits in the early spring, but put them away after the spawn? Did you know you can actually catch fish on them all year long? The early spring lipless bite is something many anglers look forward to all year, but once those spawning bass move out to deeper water, a lot of anglers reach for deep diving crankbaits. In this seminar, Drew Cook breaks down his 12-month, 365 day approach to fishing lipless crankbaits. Cook goes in-depth on his personal technique for fishing grass lakes in the early spring, but also on just how to catch them after the spawn and during the fall transition.
Cook explains how each different technique needs different equipment. Fishing lipless crankbaits on braided line requires a different rod than fishing lipless crankbaits on flurocarbon. Aside from the techniques and rods, Cook also goes into detail about the importance of hooks. Lipless baits are notorious for losing fish, but using the best treble hooks will help you land more fish throughout the day.
