Tiktaalik is probably one of the most well-known “transitional” fossils supposedly favoring evolution. In this video, Dr. Matt McLain shows that although Tiktaalik indeed shows physiological continuity with fish and tetrapods, the fossil itself, does not fit where it should in the geologic record. In other words, it’s out of place, appearing in the fossil record “before” the “primitive” fish it supposedly evolved from. Importantly, this video debunks the equally incorrect creationist notion that Tiktaalik shows no transitional features. Although both speakers are creationists, they do believe that God actually built a high level of continuity in living organisms, a proposal that goes all the way back to Aristotle, and as such, believe that creationists should be looking for continuity in living organisms.
