Leading Edge Disturbances is a dance/art/film collaboration inhabiting a world of fractured symmetry. The piece surveys isolation and anomie within the framework of collapsing partnerships. A set of plexiglass structures slide through the space, invisibly supporting a tenuously revolving menege of duets.
Artist C. Finley printed 25 original drawings on fabric, fashioned by designer Athan Vanell, into costumes and painted a series of scales on canvas to serve as the decor. An original score, composed by Nathaniel Bartlett, utilizes computer systems to electronically synthesize layers of complexity out of the sounds of a single marimba, yielding a sound scape oscillating between the serenity and discord.
