While scientists and social scientists have long embraced open access for long-form monograph publication, history and the humanities have been a little slower to take advantage of the power and possibilities of OA platforms. This panel, for historians, history professionals, and publishers, demystifies the editorial and acquisitions process for open access publishing; discusses the merits of different electronic platforms; looks at how to market OA scholarship to peers and students; and unpacks the big questions surrounding funding, reception, and impact. We will talk about traditional monographs as well as digital publications/enhanced ebooks.
