Posterior & Fundal Placental Position On Ultrasound | Pregnancy USG #posteriorplacenta #placenta
Posterior Placental Position:
When the placenta attaches to the back wall of the uterus, it's called a posterior placenta.
A posterior position might mean the baby's face will be facing your back (occiput anterior), which is generally a good position for vaginal delivery.
A posterior placenta is a common position and is generally not a concern during pregnancy.
Fundal Placental Position:
The fundus is the top of the uterus. When the placenta attaches to the upper part of the uterus, it is termed as fundal placenta.
A fundal position is less common than anterior or posterior positions but is generally not problematic in and of itself.
However, if the placenta is too close to the cervix, it can block the baby's exit path during delivery. This condition is called placenta previa, and it may require special management or a cesarean section for delivery.
