Gambhir emphasized that many captains have come and gone, and many more will follow, but matching Dhoni's captaincy record in Indian cricket seems nearly impossible. Gambhir noted that while teams can become the number one Test team or win overseas series, these three ICC trophies are unparalleled accomplishments.
He highlighted that they shared some of the best moments together, including winning the T20 World Cup, the 2011 World Cup, becoming the number one Test side in the world, winning the CB Series, being the first Indian team to win a tri-series in Australia, drawing a Test series in South Africa, winning a Test series in New Zealand, and capturing the Asia Cup. Gambhir reflected on both the highs and lows they experienced together, such as losing 4-0 to Australia in Australia and losing to England at home. Despite these challenges, Gambhir considers Dhoni to be the best captain India has ever had.
