This is the first prototype of an inverted pendulum-PID control. The system and the control system are built from scratch using low-cost components (below $400).
The person in the video is Karl Francis (graduate student).
The person behind the camera is Aleksandar Haber.
Built from scratch by:
Aleksandar Haber (Design, components ordering, and control implementation).
Still does not work completely as it should work, however, this is just a first prototype. The budget for this project was less than $400!
The next step is to build a model and implement model-based optimal control algorithms.
If you want to support our efforts to improve mechanical/mechatronics laboratories at the College of Staten Island, please send me a message. We use servo motors and NEMA motors. Also we use low-cost relative encoders.
We implement a PID control algorithm in Arduino by using the standard Arduino libraries. The PID control is implemented from scratch.
Thank you for watching!
