After struggling with the chop saw that I used in cutting metal for my bench, I broke down and bought a horizontal bandsaw. I needed to invest in a machine that would cut metal clean. This machine can cut 45 degree angles and even up to 60 degrees. The better the fit up with metal the easier it is to weld.
