Looking over to the Czech Republic where former NATO general, Petr Pavel has won the country's presidential election.
The 61 year-old beat former prime minister Andrej Babis in a run-off poll on Saturday with 58-percent of the vote. The President-elect ran on a platform of providing more support for Ukraine and deepening relations with the EU and NATO. Pavel will start his new role in March.
The presidency is a largely ceremonial role but still has some influential powers.
Pavel is a retired four-star army general who previously served as chairman of the NATO Military Committee and as Chief of the General Staff of the Czech Armed Forces.
