►Mercedes' clever engineering, while generally great, didn't stop the intake manifold flaps on their M272 V6 engine from becoming a source of headache for every owner. A plastic actuator arm is the regular culprit, and while repairable, you'll need to remove the manifold to do so. Replacing the manifold, complete with a new actuator and swirl flap assembly, is the best fix for just about any owner.
A check engine light with some combination of these codes will always accompany the actuator arm and other related failures:
P2004 (tumble flaps stuck in actuated position)
P2005 (mechanical fault of one actuating lever)
P2006 (stuck in non-actuated position)
In this video, FCP Euro's Mercedes Expert Danny Kruger shows us how to safely remove a Mercedes M272 intake manifold for replacement.
