Today on our 2017 Toyota Tacoma. We'll be doing a test fit on the Titan Chain alloy snow tire chains with cams. Part number TC2228SCAM. That's tire size 265/70/R16. These heavy-duty Titan Tire Chains feature a ladder pattern and square links. They're going to give you the bite you need during accelerating and braking. Because they're square, they're going to provide you with better traction than chains with rounded twist links. The built in cam tighteners make it easy to achieve the tight and secure fit.
They have a maximum speed rating of 30 miles per hour and they come in a quantity of 2. The hook and lever on each side make installation very easy. Let's go ahead and show you how to do that now. To get started, we're going to be putting tire chains on the rear tires of our Toyota Tacoma because it is rear wheel drive. To begin our test fit, I've gone ahead and laid out the chain. It's a good idea to make sure there's no kinks, twists, or any tangles in it. You also want to be sure that the hook's here.
The open side is facing up, away from our tire and that the cams are in the unlocked position, as you see here, and that the lever will be on the outside of our tire. Now, let's drape our chain over our tire. I'm just going to grab here at the center and drape it over. We want to make sure it's even on both sides. We can grab here in the front. Make sure it's about the same in the back.
We'll finish draping it around and let's hook up the back side first. Here on the back side, what we want to do is take our hook, here, and take our links, here, and connect them together. Now, we don't want to hook too many links together because then we won't be able to connect the front side evenly. Let's start off with the 6th link, then the excess here, once we have the whole chain connected, we can either zip tie to the next link or we can cut it off. For now, let's go ahead and do the front side. Here in the front, we're going to do the exact same thing. This time, we've got a lever that is going to help us lock it into position. Go ahead and try to hook as many links as we can.
We'll just slide it over our lever. Then, we want to bring our lever backwards and connect it into the keeper, here. Just slide it over until it locks around. Same thing with the excess links, here. We can either zip tie, or we can cut them off. With our chain installed, now let's go ahead and tighten up our cams. We'll take our included tool, fit it into the cam and then turn it until it locks. You can already see how it's starting to tighten up that chain. We don't need to do all the cams, but we need to see how far we can get. We'll just work our way around. This is probably going to be our last cam. There we go. As you can see, with just 3 cams tightened, it's nice and tight and we're ready to go ahead and repeat the same process with the chain on the passenger side. It is a good idea to drive a short distance. Stop and get out to see if you need to make any adjustments. That's going to complete our test fit on the Titan Chain alloy snow tire chain with cams and a ladder pattern and square links. Part number TC2228SCAM. On our 2017 Toyota Tacoma.
