A other great day Wandering through Glen Derry over a couple of river crossings and up over the mountain pass Lairig an Laoigh and on to the fords of A’an, we stopped for lunch for a bit then got back on our way hiking up to The beautiful Loch A’an, we made our way down the south side of the loch towards the boulder field where we seen mountain rescue on an exercise.
We stopped at one of the beaches on Loch A’an to dip our warm feet in the water, only in the Scottish highland can you find a beach with snow on it this high up and at this time of the year. 🏴🏔
We got back on the track and on our way to the boulder field to find the Famous Shelter Stone where we made camp for the night 👌🏻 such an amazing place to think of the history of this place and how many thousands of people over the past 100 years that have Shelter there out of a storm, I even signed the book that people have signed over the years.
The next morning we hiked up to Loch Etchachan on the central Cairngorm plateau one of the highest body’s of water in the Scottish highlands, after that we made our way back down towards Glen Derry stopping at the Hutchy Bothy for a spot of lunch and a brew.
We walked back down through Glen Derry over a few river crossing which I almost broke my ankle crossing 😩 but it was well worth it.
