Repairing a pair of wedding rings with inlay Lapis. This is how I cut small cabochons, using only the flex shaft tool and bits for it. This makes life so much easier!
These rings were made with Lapis originally. The problem with Lapis, if it is not stabilized, it is a soft rock (not very soft, but soft enough to break in rings for sure!). You'll see in the video how the Lapis actually sands when I take it to a file. Stabilized Lapis was probably needed in this application, but I do not have any that is stabilized atm.
They now look wonderful and can be worn again without the missing stone. I did make a pair of new inlays just in case the ones replaced break again.
