Built for the Federated Commonwealth to replace the now ageing Dervish, the Hellspawn made use of as many new technological advances as possible. The 7D was equipped with Guardian ECM, C3 slave unit and jump jets to keep the 'mech safe while it performed its role of fire support.

Despite this the Hellspawn was woefully under-armoured for it's weight and was one of the major drawbacks of the chassis. Even with mounting a XL the equipment made armour a secondary concern. As such the Hellspawn struggled when compared to the Dervish, but was still used extensively during the fedcom civil war.
