I had a rare opportunity to throw a leg over an F3 675/800 (virtually the same bike with exception that the 800 (a stroked 675) having shorter con rods). I'm hoping to be able to ride both the 675 and 800 back to back come spring and when the roads have recovered from a rather abusive winter.
The F3 675 was built for one, well maybe two purposes. To win hearts and win races. It has done both handily.
The F3 is a hallmark motorcycle for MV and will become another historical icon for the brand as it has quite literally put MV Agusta back on the map after a 30 + year hiatus almost going the way of the dinosaur as many other "moto" brands that have gone before it.
Another reason the F3 is Ionic; it recaptures the brands landmark motor synergy in the inline 3 cylinder engine. Is it possible or noteworthy that the the Inline 3 cylinder has won more world championship titles among with its pilot Giacomo Agostini
In the 20th Century the name Giacomo Agostini and MV Agusta were synonymous terms as well as World Champions. No other brand can claim the amount of world championship title wins that MV Agusta has and now in the 21st Century the name Jules Cluzel and Team Yachnich have been instrumental in breathing new life and continuing the legacy that MV has been looking for and perhaps knew it could achieve with the "right stuff".
Motorcycle USA's Adam Waheed had, in so many words, pronounced this his favorite Super Sport bike of all time, that along with the bike being voted "the most beautiful bike in the world".
The F3 has not come to the world stage without flaws. Perhaps the only really prevalent nagging problem (at least up to 2013 models) has been a rather temperamental throttling problem which MV has been diligent about resolving. The way it has been described is that when letting off the throttle there is a delayed reaction/response. Not a deal breaker for most but certainly for a few. Too many of us have become accustomed to demanding a turn key bike that does what you ask of it .. Should it be cliche' to say that we don't nor should we expect this if an Italian made bike ? As the saying goes: "the squeaky wheel gets the the grease".
With the advent of Mercedes Benz having now acquired %25 interest in the company lets hope the forth coming models will utter no complaints except something in in the way of "it's too fast". :)
