Legacy Loot Mode explained! Legacy Loot Mode is coming to WoW in the upcoming WoW Patch 8.0 (the BfA Prepatch) so here's how it works. You don't need to turn on Legacy Loot Mode- when you zone into a dungeon or raid that's intended for 10 or more levels below that of your character, it'll automatically be enabled.

Legacy Loot Mode causes the dungeon to treat you as a full five-man group (or 20 man if you're in a flexible sized raid) while still using Personal Loot. This results in some odd Legacy Loot quirks where you can receive multiple pieces of loot from one 5 man dungeon boss in BfA, or even multiple copies of the same piece of loot! I tested the difference in loot earned between Legion and the 8.0 BfA prepatch on the 8.0 PTR and found that this Legacy Loot change affects loot from bosses, but not necessarily BOE greens or trade goods.
