The Zoom H1 records great sound but for video, you don't necessarily want an imposing recording device in your picture. And trying to place the microphone outside the picture introduces all sorts of ambient noise. Using the $20 ATR 3350, you get an inexpensive lavalier microphone (sometimes referred to as a lapel mic) with good sound quality. The key is that it gets the microphone close to your actor or talent. It may require some EQ (equalization) to control the nasally effect at 1K. Also be sure to use a fresh battery for best results as a dying battery will introduce distortion and noise.
All vocal sound in this video recorded with the Audio Technica ATR 3350 into the Zoom H1. Video recorded on the Canon 60D with the Canon 50mm f/1.8 II.
Find the ATR 3350 at Amazon or B&H Photo. The newer IS version of the mic also comes with an adapter so that you can record to your smartphone instead of your camera or audio recorder (like the Zoom H1):
