Day 5 - we headed to the Catlins, withch if it us not on your itinerary, you definitely need ti add it!
First stop, nugget point with their amazing lighthouse. We arrived here late at night to photograph the lighthouse with the milky wat, but unfortunately, our flashlight died, and it was pitch black. The Sky was absolutely amazing, but it was impossible to walk to the lighthouse without a flashlight. It was like walking with your eyes closed it was so dark.
The next morning, we headed along the coast to see all of the amazing waterfalls.
Purakaunmui, the wedding cake falls was our first stop. Best seen early morning or late afternoon.
Then next stop, Cathedral Caves. You can only visit during low tide, so keep a close eye on the forcast. approximately an hour walk.
we then stopped at McLean Falls, absolutely beautiful 😍
then we were told about a local waterfall, which was so amazing!
Then, on to Currio Bay, a petrified ancient forest. the main attraction here is the oarade of penguins at sunset, I waited and waited but never saw the penguins. 😔 Fortunately, I did find one or 2!
