The Ministry of Commerce and Industry issued a Quality Control Order for Bolts, Nuts, and Fasteners, specifying adherence to Indian Standards
These must carry the Standard Mark under a BIS license as per Scheme-1 of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

The order titled "The Bolts, Nuts and Fasteners (Quality Control) Order, 2023" is specified in a Gazette Notification dated 21 July 2023.
Effective six months from the notification, but with different timelines for Micro and Small Enterprises under the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006: nine months for Small Enterprises and twelve months for Micro Enterprises.
