As a jeweller, a question that we're frequently asked is 'are your gemstones heated/ treated' or 'are heated Sapphires still real?'. To set the record straight, heating a Sapphire has nothing to do with whether it is genuine or not! It's a very mild treatment that improves colour and clarity. In fact, heating is just the speeding up of the earth’s natural processes.
